Workshop on “INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) & CYBER SECURITY FOR SMART GRID” | NATIONAL
POWER TRAINING INSTITUTE, SOUTHERN REGION, Tamilnadu, India
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Smart grid is one of the feature
of energy, consumption monitoring and management system. Smart grid is based on
communication between the provider and consumer. Smart Grid(SG) offers
bi-directional energy flow between service providers and consumers, involving
power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization system. SG employs
various devices for the monitoring, analysis and control of the grid, deployed
at power plants, distribution centers and in consumers' premises in a very
large number. Hence, Smart Grid requires connectivity, automation and the
tracking of such devices. This is achieved with the help of Internet of Things
(IoT). Cyber Security refers to the protection of the networks, hardware and software
from attacks, damage or unauthorized access and rejection of services. Cyber
security is a growing concern and a key success factor for smart grid
development.
